Bailan Family Bungalows

We offer BUDGET accommodation with 8 new
(2005)Thai style huts each with a double bed, fan, toilet, hot water shower and hammock.
WE have 2 hut sizes.Our small huts are ideal for 1 person staying alone ($7.50) but a little cramped for 2 sharing (but not impossible).Our larger huts are ideal for 2 people ($10.00).All huts have been refurbished and improved in october 2007.As with all hostels on this site prices are based on 2 people sharing.

We have a restaurant in our resort with a BASIC traditional Thai, and also a western menu. From our reception you can hire transport and arrange any number of trips around the island such as fishing, snorkeling and elephant trekking if required.

We are in the Bailan area of Koh Chang and are 1 minutes walk away from a SMALL beach and have a sea view from all our huts.PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE ARE NOT ON THE BAECH and the beach is SMALL and in places ROCKY (in the water) but quiet and secluded and ideal for reading or having time alone .LONELY BEACH is 1.7km away (to the sand) and Bang Bao beach 3km in the opposite direction.We are 40 minutes drive from the ferry pier and not as yet a prime tourist location and this provides a very unique and unspoiled feel for the whole area however this means that you will need to rent a motorbike (200 baht per day) or rely on the pick up taxi service if you want to get around.


A small but expanding village is only 500 meters south from the resort.Here you will find a small market, a couple of bars and restaurants, a bakery, internet shop, laundry service, travel agent and even a very good sauna
1km north is lonely beach with lots more restaurants, bars and night life.(And late night noise)

Directions

We are conveniently located roadside in Bailan, a quiet, undeveloped bay
on the west coast of Koh Chang, approximately 1 kilometre south of
Lonely Beach and 20 kilometres from the ferry piers. To find us, take
any songtaew (white pick-up truck taxi) heading for Bailan or Bangbao
from the ferry pier. The fare will be 90 baht and the journey
will take approximately 40 minutes. A couple of minute after you head
south out of Lonely Beach, you'll see the Bailan Family Bungalow sign on
the right hand side of the road.


By Plane
Trat Airport opened in April 2003 although very few people either knew or cared. There are daily flights from Bangkok for those with money to burn or who are horrified by the alternative prospect of a 5 hour bus ride. The Trat office of Bangkok Airways can be reached on 039 525 299-30. But you'll find it far easier to book tickets at any travel agent's don't expect much change from 4,000 Baht for a return trip. From the airport take the Bangkok Airways minibus service to any resort on the island, cost is a couple of hundred baht/person.
By Car
Follow the Bangna-Trat road or motorway out of Bangkok until you see Highway 344.  Stay on the 344. Join Highway 3 again near Klaeng and then, about 23km outside Trat, turn left at the T-junction with 3156, signposted to Laem Ngop. 20 mins later you'll be at the first of the ferry piers. (To reach the cheapest ferry, Centerpoint, turn off the 3156 after about 9km and follow an empty road until it rejoins the 3156, turn right and Centerpoint is couple of hundred meters away.
