Pousada Estrela Do Mar

Set right in the heart of Barra, just a minute from the beach, this exquisite residential house has been transformed by loving owners into a comfortable, modern, pristine guest house for discerning travellers.

With nine rooms, the pousada caters to groups or single travellers. Each room has it’s own bathroom, refrigerator and TV. All rooms are air-conditioned and most also have ceiling fans. Our breakfasts are legendary - fresh tropical fruits, fresh farm eggs, cheeses, jams and butter.

We have internet access in the lobby exclusively for our guests and Wi-Fi access in the common areas and some of the rooms.

Barra has some of the finest beaches in Salvador and is ideally positioned for visiting the Pelourinho (historic centre). There are lots of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. Public transport is very good with buses to every part of the city and taxis on every corner.


Barra is one of the two main Carnaval routes in the city and the pousada is just around the corner from the Farol da Barra (lighthouse) which is the centre of the Carnaval activities. Salvador's New Year celebrations (a spectacular firework display and outdoor concert) also take place at Farol da Barra so we are also ideally located for this unforgettable event.

Directions

We can arrange airport pickup by taxi for R$50 (R$60 after 21.00). Otherwise take the Praca da Se (via Barra) bus outside the arrivals building – it costs R$5 and runs every 20 mins. It takes about 1 hour depending on traffic. Ask the driver to let you off at Farol da Barra. We are on the first street on the right after the bus-stop.

If arriving at the bus station either take a taxi outside (approx R$25) or cross over the footbridge to the Iguatemi Shopping Center. Take a Praca da Se (via Farol da Barra) bus for R$3. It takes about 45 mins depending on traffic. Same instructions as airport bus.
