Yarmouth Backpackers

Budget, hostel style accommodation located in the historic seaport of Yarmouth. Yarmouth Backpackers has opened in an historic 1860’s former sea merchant’s home which we have transformed into a warm and friendly hostel in keeping with the charm and character of the old building. Our 'widow’s walk' is one of few remaining in town and offers extensive views across the harbour.

Just 600 metres from the US ferry terminal, (about 10-15 minute walk) the backpackers is also an easy walk to downtown, restaurants, attractions & the waterfront.

We offer private and dormitory rooms, full kitchen facilities, TV room, share bathrooms, sun deck, BBQ, car and bike “parking”. (Linen, blankets and towels are included in the price).


Located at the junction of the Lighthouse and Evangeline tourist trails, the town of Yarmouth is just a few minutes drive or short bike ride to some of Nova Scotia’s beautiful beaches, lakes and provincial parks. So come visit & just relax - we have plenty of books & movies, or for those wanting to explore - join a tour to experience Nova Scotian culture, history and nature; wander through our historic town and chat to the local lobster fisherman at the wharves; watch the spectacular sunsets; canoe on the lake; rent a bike or just wander along a beach (a dip in the Atlantic is really only for the brave!)

Directions

Arriving by ferry from US - walk up Forest St (tourist office will be on your right), turn right at the traffic lights onto Main Street. Walk along Main Street until you reach the grocery store (500 metres), turn left here into Argyle Street. Trinity Place is the 2nd street on the right and the hostel is right on this corner, (about 10-15 minute walk).

Arriving by bus - bus will drop you at the Colony Hotel opposite the tourist office. Walk up Forest Street to the traffic lights. Turn right onto Main Street, walk along Main Street until you reach the grocery store (500 metres), turn left here into Argyle Street. Trinity Place is the 2nd street on the right and the hostel is right on this corner, (about 10-15 minute walk). Look for the large grey 2 story building on the corner.

Arriving by car:
From Halifax via South Shore on Highway 103 - follow signs to Yarmouth, turn left at the end of the highway. At the traffic lights, turn right onto Starrs Road, follow this to the end and turn left onto Main Street. Continue along Main Street through town centre until you reach Argyle Street (small grocery store at this corner). Turn left at Argyle Street, Trinity Place is the 2nd street on the right and the hostel is right on this corner.

Via Highway 101 (Valley, Digby & ferry from New Brunswick) - follow highway to the end. At the traffic lights, turn right onto Starrs Road, follow this to the end and turn left onto Main Street. Continue along Main Street through town centre until you reach Argyle Street (small grocery store at this corner). Turn left at Argyle Street, Trinity Place is the 2nd street on the right and the hostel is right on this corner.
