Cela Spanish language School offers Spanish language courses on Margarita Island, one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, only 30 minutes from Venezuela´s mainland. The Spanish School is located in a very quiet residential area, far away from tourism. Our staff is highly qualified, experienced in teaching Spanish as a second language and is multilingual. Margarita Island has 82 different beaches and many opportunities to relax, have fun and practice water sports like Windsurf or Kite surf. At cela Spanish school we offer free excursions to the most interesting places on Margarita Island.

Typical Day

The Spanish language courses at CELA Spanish School on Margarita Island are offered in classes with a maximum of 6 students. There are 5 levels of instruction: Beginner, Intermediate A, Intermediate B, Advanced and Superior. Each level is 50 periods of 45 minutes (2 weeks). The group courses consist of 25 lessons per week (45 min each) from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 1.20 pm. In the afternoon, participants could join our free excursions three times a week to the most beautiful places on the Island.

Age range, type of group

The school accepts students from 18 years up, but also couples and families.

Sleeping and meals

Host Families: Our host families are carefully selected; they have been the same since 1997. The accommodation in the family includes breakfast and dinner every day except Sundays. All the families are located close to the school, so you can walk every day. Most of them have grown up children. We highly recommend this type of housing to maximize your Spanish skills and discover the Venezuelan lifestyle. Venezuelan families are very kind and hospitable; your privacy will be respected. If you have special requirements like vegetarian food, or you have any allergies, please tell us, so we can consider them when we place you in a family. Hotel room: The island has a lot of hotels and resorts of all categories. Please contact us and write us about your wishes and we will be pleased to help you to find something suitable. Prices vary between US$10 and US$150 according to the hotel and the services offered. Apartments: There are apartments close to the school. The prices are between US$30 and US$40 per night depending on the location and comfort.

Other Information

At CELA the excursions are included in the language program. After the lessons we will take you out 3 days a week to the most beautiful places on the island. In Margarita you will find 167 km of inviting beaches, all with different atmosphere and possibilities to practice sports or simply relax. Some places you will discover during our excursions are: Pampatar, with its Fortress Santiago de La Caranta (1586) La Asunción: Capital of Margarita, with the oldest church in South America, and the Castillo de Santa Rosa El Valle del Espíritu Santo Juan Griego: Fortress of La Galera (1811) La Restinga Lagoon National Park and the many different beaches Margarita has to offer Friday afternoon the school offers for all participants free salsa dance lessons.
