With its premium location in Rachadaphisek Road, friendly services, relaxed welcoming atmosphere and very competitive room and bed rates, Discovery Lodge is the perfect accommodation for backpackers and budget conscious travelers. Only 30 minutes by taxi from Bangkok International Airport and 20 minutes by underground railway from central Bangkok, all Bangkok's major facilities and tourist attractions are easily, quickly and cheaply accessed with no traffic hassles.
Owned and managed by English speaking Chris and Benz Bruce, situated in a quiet location and with friendly staff ready to assist with all your needs, this is the place to be for a happy and interesting stay in Bangkok.


We offer all our guests a calm respite from the hectic world of downtown Bangkok. Double bedrooms are air-conditioned with cable TV and built in cupboards. Modern bathrooms are fitted with baths, full length showers, western toilets, wash basins and shaver/hairdryer sockets. The lounge/bedrooms lead to a verandah with tables and chairs where you can sunbathe, read or just relax. Pillows, a bed sheet and a towel are provided and additional linen or blankets are available upon request. The suites can be rented as a single unit or can be split into two bedrooms sharing a common bathroom depending on your requirements.

Amenities available in the common rooms include computers with access to the internet, printer and disc burner, international pay phones and fax services, coin operated washing machines, (laundry service is available on request), cable TV and a small book swapping facility. There is a mini-mart on the premises supplying a variety of drinks and ready to eat meals.

With its enviable location, Discovery Lodge is your gateway into the heart of Bangkok. Suttisan Station, a five minute walk from Discovery Lodge, provides direct access to the underground and Sky Train station networks and buses. Underground Railway Fares at 10 Baht for three stations plus 5 Baht per additional station are exceptionally cheap. From Mochit, Sukhumvit and Silom underground stations you can switch to the Sky Train and have direct access to all Bangkoks major tourist attractions as well as links to river ferries. The maximum Sky Train fare is 40 Baht and river ferry fares start at 2 Baht.

AIRPORT PICKUP

Upon confirmation of your booking by Discovery Lodge guests wanting to make use of our airport pickup service must provide the name of the airline with whom they are travelling, their flight number and their time of arrival stating am or pm.

BY TAXI FROM AIRPORT:

Take a TAXI METER cab from outside airport arrivals. The ride to Discovery Lodge should cost you about Baht 250 including the airport surcharge. Do not take a taxi from the touts inside the airport as this will cost you Baht 600. Print out the bilingual map from this website. Tell the driver to take you to the Grand Hotel in Rachadapisek Road between Sutthisan and Huai Kwang subway stations. Discovery Lodge is on the top floor of the Raja Resort Hotel right next door to the Grand Hotel and 40 meters into Rachadapisek Soi 16 on the right hand side. Rachadapisek Soi 16 lies inbetween the Grand Hotel and Siam Commercial Bank off Rachadapisek Road.

BY SUBWAY TRAIN :

Take a subway train to Suthisan Station. Exit the station through exit No. 3 and walk towards the Grand Hotel on
Rachadaphisek Road. Turn left just past the
Grand Hotel into Rachadaphisek Soi 16, walk
40 meters and turn right onto the Raja Resort
Hotel car access ramp. At the top of the ramp
walk up one flight of stairs and follow the signs to
Discovery Lodge.

BY TRAIN FROM BANGKOK CENTRAL:

Take a subway train towards Bang Sue as far as Suthisan Station. Exit the station through exit No. 3 and walk to the Grand Hotel on Rachadaphisek Road. Turn left just past the Grand Hotel into Rachadaphisek Soi 16, walk
30 meters and turn right onto the Raja Resort Hotel ramp. Discovery Lodge is on the third floor of the Raja Resort Hotel.
