The farmhouse Convento di Novole is nestled in the green hills on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, the perfect location for visiting the historic towns of the two regions. Tuscany: Novole is 10 minutes from the etruscan town of Cortona, 30 minutes from Arezzo and its historiacal churches and Roman ruins, 50 minutes from Montepulciano, a typical small town of Tuscany, and 1 hour from Florence and Siena. Take a drive on “Strada del vino” on your way to Siena for some of the areas best wine tasting. Two hours from Novole is Camaldoli and La Verna. Here you can discover the enchanting Eremo di Camaldoli and Eremo di La Verna, two Franciscan monastries hidden deep in a mystical forest. Guests can also enjoy the thermal baths of Rapolano Terme, only 30 minutes away, San Filippo (50 minutes) and Chianciano Terme (1 hour). Umbria: Novole is 40 minutes from the medieval university town of Perugia, 1 hour from Assisi and its beautiful duomo where Giotto painted his masterpieces, and about 1 1/2 hours from Orvieto, famous for its white wine and stunning chuches. The medieval towns of Todi and Spello offer sweeping views of the Umbrian countryside as well as wonderful walking in both towns. A short stroll from Novole offers charming views of Lake Trasimeno. By car you can visit the lake, a lovely spot to picnic, canoe or take a ferry trip around the lake’s islands. There are smaller lakes in the area around Novole ideal for swimming in Summer.

We offer to the guests 4 solutions:
The farmhouse has two floor. In the first floor there’s a kitchen and an ample living area with stone walls, a big fireplace and an amazing dinner area. In the second floor there is a bedroom with double bed and private bathroom, three other bedrooms, two of which with single bed and one with double bed, 1 bathroom and a sunny living area with a very old fireplace, armchairs . It is suitable for 8 people. Outside of the Villa there is a very big terrace with table, chairs, garden umbrella and deck-chairs. The farmhouse is approximately 250 qm and has 8 rooms and 2 bathrooms.
The Chapel (sleeps 4 people in 2 single beds and 1 double) with it’s original stone walls and rose window facade, has a pleasant kitchen and a bathroom with shower. Above the comfortable living area, which can be converted to sleep 2 people, the charming loft with double bed serves as the main bedroom. The chapel is approximately 60 qm and has 2 rooms and bathroom.
The Cottage (sleeps 2 in double bed) has a large and sunny kitchen/ dining area on the first floor. On the second floor, a bathroom with shower and on the mezzanine, a sitting area with fire place. Above which, there is a loft with a double bed. The cottage offers stunning views of the valley from it’s cobblestone court yard, the perfect place to read, eat breakfast or dine at sunset. The cottage is approximately 40 qm and has 2 rooms and bathroom.
The Convent is the oldest building at Novole, dating back to the end of XV century. A part of it has been restored in a way that maintains its unique atmosphere and history. It is a large apartment with high ceilings and arches, tastefully furnished:
- a livingroom with dining area, sofas, and sleeping loft;
- a bright, fully equipped, eat-in kitchen;
- a bedroom (double bed);
- 2 bathrooms with shower.

There is a wood stove and central gas heating.
There is also a private garden, surrounded by cypress trees and aromatic plants; there is a table and a barbeque; The apartment is confortable for 2 adults and 2 children; if needed can accomodate 4-5 adults.

Other Information

We are open all year round. We let cottages by the week (Saturday to Saturday), however, in some periods, we let cottages for weekend stays. We provide all cottages with cooking utensils, kettle, linen, glasses, cutlery etc. Private parking available. Each cottage has privacy and has its own patio, with table and sun-chairs. Each cottage has central wood heating and gas ovens. We produce a small quantity of red wine and olive oil, and we grow our own vegetables, all of which guests can purchase. Baby sitting can be arranged in Summer. Pets are welcome at Novole.

Directions

From the Florence-Rome motorway take the Val di Chiani exit. Continue on the Siena-Perugia highway for about 3 km. until the exit for Cortona. At Camucia, follow the sign for Montanare/Mercatale. At Montanare, continue for about another 4 km. On the right is a yellow signpost for Novole. Just follow the signs.
