Surrounding Area

Twelve miles from Palma, one of the Med's lovliest and still unspoiled medieval capitals, at the top of a valley at 2,000 feet with glorious views over a tiny pretty hamlet and down to the sea, with wonderful walking llterally out the back gate, and only a twenty minute drive to beaches, coves, marinas, sailing or scuba and snorkeling, as well as riding, caving, or exploring thousand-year-old Roman ruins. Mallorca is Spain in microcosm, offering everything that has made the country Europe's favorite holiday destination, but all concentrated on a sixty mile by forty mile island. We're hidden and tranquil, but convenient to allmost everywhere.

Accommodations

Sophisticated rustic is the theme of the decor, with handmade oversized beds with down pillows and Ralph Lauren's best sheets, comfortable sitting arrangements, pretty prints and fabrics, and a firm emphasis on creature comforts (though the bathrooms we inherited are small because all water has to be trucked in). All accommodations have kitchens, so guests can self-cater to whatever degree they want. Every accommodation has its own private south-facing terrace with what one reveiwer called "the best hotel views on the island."

Rooms/Suites

Three houses and seven studio suites, part of an artists' colony designed by Pedro Otzoup, famous for his designs for the chic area on the island called Bendinat and more recently for his house for supermodel Claudia Schiffer. The cluster of buildings is perched at the crest of a tranquil valley, where birds gather, the wind sighs, and there's not much else to disturb the weary traveler seeking respite from the world.

Nice big outdoor pool with loungers and comfortable chairs on the bar terrace, a sauna (on request in advance) breakfast until noon, packaged meals from our award-winning restaurant to zap in the microwave if you're feeling like staying in, DVD players and a library of old classic films

Services Offered

Scott's doesn't do "service" in the sense of chain or business hotels. We leave you alone unless you need something, and then we do our best to give you what you want. But there are no bellhops and bartenders, or anybody trying to sell you ancillary extras. We clean your room and tidy every day, we offer a fine breakfast until late, we advise you on walks and drives and restaurants and sightseeing, but mostly we stay out of your hair, literally in that there's no beauty salon, and figuratively in that we leave you alone until you want attention.

Restrictions

No pets, no smoking in the bedrooms, and we welcome children only from the age of twelve.

Directions

Leave the airport of Palma de Mallorca and head toward the city. After about a Km and a half split off to the right onto the "Via de Cintura" or beltway. Proceed for two Km to the turnoff for "Puigpunyent". Go through a roundabout and then straight ahead for 11 Km, up through pine forests on a curvy road to the town of Puigpunyent. Turn left at the T junction, with "Galilea" marked at 4 Km. The road here is steeper and twisty. At Galilea, turn right into the village and look for signs for "Scott's Galilea". There are six of them and then you just follow them up and up to our parking lot. Ring the bell at the top of the steps and you're done.
