Your stay at Rising Cock includes helpful 24-hour reception and every room is fitted with storage lockers and pad locks available for rent. Please note payment is cash only.

With an emphasis on cleanliness we offer our friends and guests daily in-house cleaning with no lock-outs to make them feel at home on what is sure to be a long journey. By day, Rising Cock is a tranquil haven meant to ease the worst of jet lag or traveling worries. Lagos thrives by night and heavy partying is highly tolerated; so let our common room serve as your pre-game central before you head to one of the infamous bars in town.

Feast as a king or queen would at our free and world famous breakfast at the Rising Cock. Wake up every morning to Momma’s legendary crepes and traditional lemon tea proven to cure the severest of hangovers. When Momma’s not showing off her culinary skills, enjoy the pleasures of a full kitchen equipped with two refrigerators, stove, microwave, and dishwasher.

The Rising Cock is centrally located in the historically significant Old City of Lagos just around the corner from the finest restaurants, bars, bakeries, and cafes. More importantly, only a short five minute stroll and you will find yourself on the breathtaking and picturesque Lagos beaches. Clean and cozy towels are also available for rent.

We encourage you to participate in one of our many events including Momma’s Big Family Dinner featuring homemade Portuguese cuisine accompanied by Papa’s locally produced red wine and followed by a trivia night. Don’t miss the Outdoor Movie Night with theatre style seating, popcorn, and a cinema-worthy projector. We boast the first and free organized walking tour of Lagos’ cliffs, grottos, and lighthouse. Your friends told you about it and the pictures speak for themselves: our Booze Cruise runs between the months of May and September, consisting of a three meter beer bong, tubing, and all you can drink beer and sangria! Book during our summer months to experience the Rising Cock beach party featuring a lubricated five meter slip and slide into the ocean!

Want to take a break from the party or try something different? Let our staff help by booking one of the several extreme sports that Lagos has to offer: surfing, rocking climbing, wakeboarding, or windsurfing, to name a few.

Guests that travel in larger groups also have the fortunate opportunity to stay in one of our three lavish apartment complexes, all of which are just a five minute walk from the main hostel. These facilities can accommodate anywhere between six to twenty visitors, and guests can request to reserve these apartments by simply sending us an e-mail. Travelers that stay in the apartments still have complete access to all of the amenities at the main hostel yet they get to continue the party after the bars in the comfort of more private accommodation.

FROM THE BUS STATION:

Once you get off the bus head straight towards the marina. Take a right once you get to the main avenue (Avenida dos Descobrimentos). You will walk past a BES Bank, Repsol Gas Station, fish market and taxi stand. Keep on walking, you will pass a parking lot (your right hand side) and you will see a church up ahead to your right. Turn right at the church and you will see a pharmacy on the corner and a pedestrian walkway, head up the walk way until you come to another church ( you should see the police station up to your left). You'll cross a street and then continue up a pedestrian walkway, you will see RGB Club to your left and a bakery on the corner, turn left after passing RGB and make an immediate right. The hostel is up ahead on the right (#14) next to a small supermarket, just press the buzzer on the red door and reception will let you in.

FROM THE TRAIN STATION:

Walk through Marina and cross the pedestrian suspension bridge this will bring you to the main avenue Avenida dos Descobrimentos which you will cross and then take a left.
