Galileo Hostel

Two young travelers, Brian and Mer, have taken over Galileo and are busy painting, renovating, and adding some life to the place!

We're located in one of San Jose's safest neighborhoods, one block away from the biggest park in the city, complete with canopy tours, soccer games, a lake, running trails, and go karts.

With our hammock strung garden, wi-fi, hot showers, multi-language book exchange, maps, luggage storage, all the free delicious Costa Rican coffee you can drink, impromptu beer and barbecue nights, and the cheapest dorm beds in San Jose we're the perfect place to stay in San Jose.

We're located minutes away from domestic and international bus terminals making us the ideal place to stay when traveling around Costa Rica.


Come chill out in our hammock garden, join us for one of our beer and barbecue nights, and see if you can earn a dollar off your stay by telling us a joke we've never heard and that makes us laugh!

Address for the taxi drivers:
De la Soda Tapia de Sabana, 100m (metres) sur.

If you come from the airport, a taxi will cost you about US$15.
If you want to come by bus, you just have to take one outside the airport that says 'Alajuela' or 'Alajuela-San José' on it, ask the driver to stop on 'HSBC' (International Bank) right on the Paseo Colón (the main street) and Galileo is one block to the south from it.

If you are in a bus terminal in San Jose, you should take a taxi, this one will cost around ¢1000 and this is the easiest way to find us.
