Our HI Metropolitan hostel boasts a prime location for enjoying the unique atmosphere of the historical Gaslamp Quarter, located in the heart of Downtown San Diego. You’ll find yourself in the midst of San Diego’s finest restaurants, cafes, boutiques, galleries, bars, nightclubs, and movie theatres, with plenty of seasonal street festivals and other various attractions year round. You'll be minutes away from the airport, Greyhound and Amtrak stations, the San Diego Convention Center, and numerous forms of public transportation providing access to all of San Diego, including Balboa Park, Sea World, the World-Famous San Diego Zoo, and all of San Diego’s finest beaches.

PLEASE NOTE- A few of our reservation policies:

Foreign travelers must show a valid foreign passport and United States citizens must show a valid state issued Identification Card or Driver's License with photo upon check in. San Diego County residents are not accepted. U.S. passports, Foreign Identification and Driver's License, Military Identification and Student Identification cards are not accepted.

If a reservation is not cancelled by midnight Pacific Standard Time the day before scheduled check-in, your credit card will be charged for the amount of the first night's stay and the remainder of your reservation will be canceled.

Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No one under the age of 12 may stay in a dorm room.

We have a maximum stay of 14 out of 365 days. Any bookings made for longer than this cannot be accepted.

A $3 Non-Member Fee will be added per night for guests who are not Hostelling International members. Memberships are available at front desk upon check in.

From Hwy. 5: Take Front St. exit, turn left on Market. Hostel is at corner of 5th and Market; Train: Take Bayside Trolley to Convention Center. Walk North 3 blocks on 5th to Market. Bus: Walk East to 5th. Go South 4 blocks to Market. Airport: take bus #992 to 5th Ave. and Broadway. Walk South 4 blocks to Market.
