Port Maria is the capital of the parish St. Mary. In earlier times Port Maria was one of the biggest exporters of Banana and sugarcane in Jamaica.

It is a local and typical Jamaican town and we are one of only a few guesthouses in the area, ideal for visitors who want to experience the friendly and helpful charm of the Jamaican people.

There are many tourist attractions in the area and the parish of St. Mary. In Port Maria you will find 2-3 lovely churches and the Cabarita Island in the bay. Also there is a local Saturday market with fresh foods, fruits and vegetables.

There is a small museum just a 15 min. drive from the apartments called 'Noel Cowards Firefly' The view is breathtaking. Also you can explore one of the many plantations surrounding Port Maria, or you do some horseback riding. The apartments are just a 2 min. walk to the start of Port Maria beach which is about 1,5km long. Nearby you will find banks, post office, shops and a bus terminal with connections to all parts of Jamaica.
There are also a few restaurants, bars and clubs in the area, mostly with local dishes, drinks and music’s.


Each apartment has a bedroom with a double bed, Toilet/Shower, fully equipped kitchen, living room with a sofa bed and a balcony. Included in the rent is cleaning the apartment and changing bed linen and bathroom towels 1 time a week, gas, hot/cold water, electricity, gas, taxes and a free secure parking lot. We also can clean more often for you or we can organize just about every little thing.

On the premises we have a barbeque area, covered gazebo and a garden for you to use. Also our manager Mr. Winston Tracey will assist you together with our staff during your stay at Sunrise Apartments. We also have a housedog Jacobin living on the premises and he is used to guests with children. On your wish we also can chain him during the day, just ask our management.

Directions

Port Maria is about 1 1/2-hour drive from Kingston and about 2 1/2 hours drive from Montego Bay. You have to stop right in the centre of Port Maria at the bus terminal at the beachside. Opposite of the bus terminal you will see Sunrise Apartments on the one way street back to the town centre.
