Bumbles Bridge Street Backpackers

Bridge Street Backpackers (previously Bumbles) is a former luxury hotel in central Nelson situated only 2 minutes walk from the inter city bus station. The new owners, Tony and Kath, have extensively upgraded the facilities during the last year.

We can offer you a variety of types of accommodation including double and twin rooms with private bathrooms, four-bed dorm rooms with attached bathrooms, four bed dorm rooms with shared bathroom and large dorm room with shared bathroom.

We have full cooking facilities, a barbecue area, laundry, email facilities and plenty of seating in our quiet sunny courtyard.

Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are able to advise you on the many activities available in sunny Nelson and can make bookings for the facilities as well as onward travel. The beautiful Tahunanui beach is only 5 minutes drive or a short ride on one of our free bikes. Regular buses from the bus station across the road can also take you to the beach.


The hostel is very close to several pubs, clubs and cafés as well as shops and supermarkets. The Saturday and Sunday morning ‘flea markets’ are an event not to be missed if you are there at the weekend.

Directions

From the Inter City Bus Station, look to the right down Bridge Street and you will see the signs for Bridge Street Backpackers, some 40 metres on the other side of the street.

From the Visitor Information Centre, cross Halifax Street at the traffic lights, cross Trafalgar Street at the traffic lights, turn left along Trafalgar Street then right along Bridge Street, when you will soon see our signs.
