Krakow is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. Legend has it that it will never be destroyed, and history is proving this to be true. Escaping damage in WWII whilst most of Poland crumbled, and surviving Communist neglect, Krakow has a wonderful mix of architecture, ranging from medieval 14th century up to 1930s Art Deco. Its countless museums, churches, and winding backstreets and courtyards need days to explore. Add to this the seat of Polish kings and queens - the Wawel Castle - and you're looking at a minimum 5 day stay to see all the attractions.

This is the cultural capital of Poland, and there's always some festival taking place weekly, throughout the year. Classical, Jazz, Opera, Folk, Klezmer for example.


It's a vibrant city, filled with wonderful restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs, all clustered around the main market square in the Old Town, one of the largest plazas in Europe.

One of the oldest universities in Europe - the Jagiellonian - with its student population of 100,000, also keeps the city young and active with a great nightlife and low costs.

The Old Jewish Quarter of Kazimierz is also fast becoming an alternative centre with its 700 year history of Jewish culture, its many synagogues and museums, and a great mix of bars, cafes and restaurants.
