The mansion is situated in the heart of the museum, theater, shopping and entertainment district, one block from Yale. The Yale Art Museum, Reparatory Theater, British Center for Art, Shubert Theater, Performing Arts Center, are all within a short walk. An extensive collection of restaurants and bistros, all within steps of the Inn, offer a variety of international cuisine, and a varied selection of night life. Situated only an hour from excitement at Foxwoods and Mohegan casinos.

Accommodations

Our "Lady" invites the traveler to settle into her "Library" for cozy conversation - or just a quiet read beside the fire. Here you'll find your afternoon refreshments of tea, seasonal beverages and sweets. Returning from an evening on the town, enjoy a Port or Sherry, compliments of the Inn. Should you desire something a bit stronger or of the grape the "Lady" offers her guests a selection from her Honor Bar.

Rooms/Suites

In our spacious ensuites one finds four poster beds, some with privacy Edwardian bed drapes, rich tapestries and oriental rugs. You might find a cast iron fireplace, with electrified flames casting a warm glow on the room. All sleeping chambers boast comfortable plush seating, New England handcrafted armoires shelter cable-colour TV/VCR (Video Library is found at The Concierge), individual climate controls, and full private baths.

Amenities

"The" elegant meeting, conference or gathering alternative. If you need to bring a few of your colleagues together, entertain a prospect or host a newcomer to the organization the "Lady" and her well trained staff will help you put your best foot forward. The Inn offers a choice of two elegant conference rooms, the "Porter Club Room" and the "Walker" - accommodating 10 and 20 respectively. Our "Library" and the "Morning Room" are also available for luncheon, dinner meeting or standup affair.

Services Offered

A recent addition by the "Lady" has been her Exercise Room. Exercise your fingers on the keyboard of her guest computer and workstation, or if its a brisk walk you're after and the weather is not quite what we'd like Pro-form treadmills and a little workout music, or a channel selection should get you where you want to go.

Restrictions

"The Lady" strives to offer her guests a uniquely uncommon, unhurried, unspoiled casually elegant atmosphere. She therefore regrets that she is unable to accommodate the needs of little ones under the age of 6. Our four legged friends, love them we do. But we must remember to respect those who could easily have an allergic reaction. Inn Staff will be happy to assist finding alternate lodging for "Spike", or PJ-Precious Jewel".

Rates & Availability

The "Lady" charges $195.00 to $215 for an evening stay, plus tax. This rate is applicable for Single, or Double occupancy and includes a full breakfast. A surcharge of $25.00 per evening's stay will be added for additional guests - maximum of two persons. For future reservations, the tariff, like the "Lady," is subject to change without notice.AMEX, VISA, MC, DISC cards, Bank or Corporate Checks and Cash are acceptable tender. With regrets, personal checks are not accepted.

Other Information

The Inn's break-feast knows no equal. Executive Chef - Innkeeper Michael A. Marra and Inn Staff brew New England's micro-roast Black Bear blends and select teas to accompany freshly squeezed citrus or traditional cranberry, toasted grains, Inn-baked muffins and savories assail your senses. A full break-feast entree, Chef Marra's morning choice, is always complimented by seasonal fruits. For those who have dietary needs, restrictions or religious practices to be honored, Chef is more than pleased to accommodate.

Directions

From I-95 east: Take Downtown New Haven Exit 47. Proceed to the end of the connector, at which point you will be on North Frontage Road at the corner of York Street. Turn right onto York, then left at the third traffic light onto Chapel Street. The Inn is 1-1/2 blocks further on your right.

From Connecticut Turnpike/I-91 west: Leave the Turnpike at the I-91 North Exit (Hartford Springfield Exit), and continue for a short distance on I-91 to Trumbull Street Exit 3. Follow I-91 directions below.

From I-91 south: Take Trumbull Street Exit 3. Proceed on Trumbull Street. Continue along Prospect (which becomes College Street), and turn right at the third light onto Chapel Street. The Inn is 3-1/2 blocks further on your right.

From Merritt-Wilbur Cross Parkway north: Take Exit 57. Drive east on Derby Avenue (Route 34) for 5 miles to the fork of Derby and George Street (3 blocks past the Yale athletic fields). Bear right onto George and continue for about 8 blocks. Turn left onto York Street, then take the second left onto Chapel Street. The Inn is 1-1/2 blocks further on your right.

From Wilbur Cross Parkway south: Take Exit 61. Drive south on Whitney Avenue for approximately 6 miles (Whitney turns into Temple Street). At the far end of the Green, turn right onto Chapel Street. The Inn is 4-1/2 blocks further on your right.
