Vel 1 Hekla volcano to the top

Once in the heart of Rangá county, 100 kms east of Reykjavík, we will explore a cave with carvings from times of Icelands settlement. Beautiful countryside with Mount Hekla in plain view follows, to Skjólkvíar lavafield, where we’ll have our picnic lunch. The day is crowned by a Snow-cat tour to the top of Mount Hekla, ca. 1500 m above sea level (snow & conditions permitting). Along the way we’ll learn about the lavafields and hot springs in the vicinity of Hekla. Departure: Reykjavík Duration: 9 - 10 hours. Included: Supertruck tour, guide, snow - cat trip, packed lunch. Typical Day

First stop is at countryside hotel Stokkalækur in the South, where an authentic Icelandic breakfast is served. Next, from a cabin at the edge of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, we go snowmobiling with local guides. Back down to Hella, for a 3 course meal, and on to Hestheimar horsebreeding farm to enjoy a show of Icelandic thoroughbreds. Riding is possible too, if you want, before heading back to Reykjavík. Departure: Reykjavík at 08:00hrs. Duration: 11-12 hours. Included: Supertruck tour, guide, Icelandic breakfast, snowmobile trip (2 per snowmobile), lunch, horse show. Minimum: 4 pax.
