Accommodations
Te Popo (lullaby) is a special place - incredibly beautiful, tranquil and very private - nestled in Taranaki's lush countryside.
The woodland gardens at Te Popo were developed in a natural style around the low-lying house. With its medieval air the house has a distinctive character and style - comfortable, private and peaceful - a great retreat, especially cosy in winter! The guest wing houses three beautifully appointed suites overlooking the garden, with private entrances, ensuites and cosy, wood burning fires. Breakfast is provided in the sun-filled conservatory and dinner, with fresh goodies from the garden, by arrangement.
For a great out of town experience, the garden has something to show at all times of the year - in the cool months when the woodland is carpeted with blue bells and daffodils; the spring for the blossoms on deciduous trees, clematis and wisteria; the summer for perennials and roses, autumn for great colour. Anytime for the birds! Surrounded by deep river gorges and pristine native bush, this 34 acre property provides much to explore. At night the moreporks hoot and the glow-worms spin their iridescent threads over the mossy banks. Constant birdsong has made this large garden famous - inspiration for bird artists Janet and Graeme Marshall.
