The "First to See the Light" Eastland district contains beautiful lakes, National Park Forests, Glorious white sand beaches, and untouched natural beauty. Gisborne was the first city in the world to greet the new millennium, and every traveller to our town has the rare opportunity of beign the first in the world to welcome to new day! It was also one of the first parts of New Zealand to be settled by the Maoris, and is the first landfall of explorer Captain James Cook. Trout and deep sea fishing are a must on the Eastcoast, and we also offer a number of outdoor activities including, tramping, kayaking, abseiling, cave exploring, boutique winery tours, even shark cage diving!
Accommodations
Acton is a magnificent Edwardian style mansion situated on 21 acres of secluded trees and gardens. The house is 10,000 sq ft, with a Queen Anne Turret, woodpaneling, ornately carved plaster ceilings, numerous stained glass windows and beautiful grand fireplaces.

The elegantly proportioned rooms have been sensitively restored and refurbished with exquisite antiques and period furniture to return the proerty to her original old "turn of the century' grandeur. Each room has its own bathroom, luxurious linen, and three rooms have their own fireplace.

Your dining experience by our own personal chef is served in the Grand Dining Room. The estate also has an astro turf tennis court, croquet lawn, petanque court, archery, billiards room and garden walks. We are also in the first stages of establishing a winery on the estate for your enjoyment
