Surrounding Area
Blue Hill, a village of 2000, is at the head of picturesque Blue Hill Bay and directly west of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. The village is well known for its artists and musicians and is home to Kneisel Chamber Music School, Leighton Art Gallery, Jud Hartman Gallery and many other artisans. Hiking Blue Hill Mountain, 950 feet, provides a vista of ocean, ponds and woods. Several small hamlets and villages dot the coastline between Blue Hill and Deer Isle. The famed WoodenBoat School is in nearby Brooklin and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts is in Sunrise. The area is a rich resource for adventures and offers overnight and day kayaking tours; lighthouse, island and foliage cruises; ferries to Isle Au Haut, Cranberry Isles, Swan Island; whalewatching in Bar Harbor; hiking the seven mountains of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island or on Isle Au Haut; biking the 51 miles of carriage roads in Acadia; birdwatching in Holbrook Sanctuary. The Inn is within walking distance of three fine restaurants and the village center.
Accommodations
The Inn, c1830, has been a bed and breakfast since 1840 and is one and is at the heart of the village's historic distric. The Federal style building is clappboarded with brick ends, has the original 9 over 6 windows and sits on an acre of land a block from the head of the Blue Hill Bay. The grounds include a perienniels garden and small apple orchard. The main Inn building has 11 guest rooms, all with private baths, some with fireplaces, some with sitting rooms or areas, original wide plank flooring and moldings,
and individually decorated with antiques and quality period reproductions. There are two living rooms, one with a fireplace the other with a small library for relaxing. Breakfast and tea are served in a bright, sunny dining room, and hors d'oeuvres are served by the fire in the living room or in the garden. The Cape House Suite is located in a small cottage immediately adjacent to the main Inn. The cottage was built in 1979 and the suite is spacious, with cathedral ceilings, pine floors, deck, fireplace, large bedroom-living room, full kitchen and bath.

Rates & Availability
Rates vary with type of room and time of year. Rooms in Inn range from $138 to $175 per day, and The Cape House Suite ranges from $190 to $245 per day. Rates are for one or two people per room and include breakfasts, tea, hors d'oeuvres, and service charges. A 7% Maine sales tax and alcoholic beverages are additional. Packages for special events or custom planning are available.
Pre-season specials offered.
The Inn is opened May 20 to November 30. The Cape House is available all year.
