Whitianga is situated on the eastern seaboard of the Coromandel Peninsula with a permanent population of around 4000 residents. It is accessible from three major cities, Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga, within a comfortable 2 1/2 hour drive and/ or 30 minute flight.
Major attractions in the area are world famous 'Hot water beach' and 'Cathedral Cove'. Hundreds of little bays with sandy beaches some of them only accessible by boat are located in the northern part of the Coromandel. Gemstone collectors can get what they are looking for in the hills of the ancient mountains. Whitianga is popular through their annual game fishing tournament and its power boat race.
Game fishing is well known beyond local borders. A number of operators offer fishing tours at every level available.
Whitianga is well known because of its fishing industry in particular for crayfish and scallops.

Two storeys solidly built in concrete (no footnoise). Very roomy appartment size units. Guest laundry. All tiled areas. Opposite beach location. 1500m to towncentre.

Rooms/Suites

9 groundfloor one-bedroom units. All with own terrace overlooking pool and enjoying full sea views and decorative little stream with bird sculptures. Appartment size: 55sqm. 3 of them have super king size beds and a few other extras. 2 are queen/single and 2 more are twin combinations.
9 upstairs studio type appartments (46sqm). All with own enclosed balcony ( extra 10sqm) and gorgeous seaviews. 7 have super king size beds that could be split into two single beds and 2 have queen size beds.
All units fitted with either spa baths or showers. All with full kitchens (incl Microwave and dishwashers). TV, videorecorders and stereo. All units are airconditioned by individal controls (cooling in summer and heating in winter)

All year round heated swimming pool (temperature between 25 deg. and 30 deg Celsius ). Golf club and mountain bike hire. BBQ by pool.
Petanque, table tennis and badmington area. Fishing and diving trips and scenic tours through approved operators on request.

Other Information

Whitianga is a lovely holiday place not only during summer but also for the bit more hardened in winter as well. The mean temperature in high summer is: 22 - 26 deg Celsius = 72-79 deg Fahrenheit (day) and 12 - 19 deg Celsius = 55-66 Fahrenheit (night).
Winter temperatures: 14 - 17 deg Celsius (day), 6 - 10 deg Celsius (night). But quite frequently winter days have absolutely no clouds at all and don't forget the pool is heated all year round, water temperature: between 26 and 30 deg. Celsius.

Directions

Through town centre to the beach then turn left on end of road (Albert Street turn into Buffalo Beach road). Follow 1500m then turn left into Admiralty Lodge. One way entrance.
