Active Adventure
After learning the basics of sea kayaking and establishing a standard of safety and comfort, the days will be spent paddling the pristine waters of Kootenay Lake. We'll explore the fabulously rich and rugged shoreline of mountains rising from the water, lush forests, sheer rock cliffs and secluded beaches. Enjoying gourmet meals, good company and leisurely hikes are only a few of the highlights of our tours.
Typical Day
Our day begins at about 8am on a deserted beach with the smells of coffee brewing and pancakes on the griddle. We sart paddling at 9am along the East shore of Kootenay Lake as the sun clears the 6000ft Selkirk mountain range. A brief stop at the ancient native petroglyphs gives everyone a chance to learn a bit of history and stretch our legs. Then its back into the boats and off to Irvine Creek for a refreshing freshwater swim and a delicious lunch. Afterward, its back into the boats for a paddle along the incredible diverse shoreline. Sightings of eagles, osprey and blue herons are common. We arrive at our evening spot at around 4pm, time to set up and get ready for dinner!
