Sooke is located 30 minutes from the city of Victoria on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It has been known as nature's little secret. There are miles of beaches to roam, many hiking trails, mountain
biking, fishing, kayaking and whale watching. Visitors will find many restaurants in the area and can experience dining at the local historic pub to fine dining. The Artisans in the area work out of their own studios that are open to the public.
Accommodations
Hartmann House is an English country cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens. There are three lily ponds on the property which overlooks Sooke harbour. Handcrafted furniture is found throughout this artisans cottage and attention is paid to every detail . Dried flowers hang from heavy wooden beams and fresh flowers are found everywhere. The sitting room boasts a large colonial fireplace and library. Guests are welcome to curl up by the fire, read a book and have a complimentary glass of brandy. In warmer weather relax in the tranquil garden where there is a cedar swing built for two, or linger in white wicker chairs on the sheltered veranda .

Rooms/Suites
Hartmann House has two rooms on the main level. The Baywindow room has a kingsize bed and
bath ensuite with a beautiful hancrafted tiled shower. It has a sitting area with french doors going into
the garden. The Garden room has a handcarved four poster bed and private bath with an old fashioned clawfoot tub. The Honeymoon Suite is a large, self contained and luxurious suite that was literally built around a four poster king size canopied bed. This bed is said to be one of the nicest, largest and most romantic beds ever seen. This suite also has a double sided wood burning fireplace, oversized whirlpool tub for two and a butler's pantry equipped with frig, microwave, sink and a few dishes. Breakfast is delivered to this suite. It has french doors entering on to you own veranda and into the garden. Truly a romantic retreat.
