Activity/Tour
The Wildlife ExperienceEast Africa is home of the 'safari'. Our itineraries take you to some of the most spectacular wildlife habitats on earth. Trak Gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda, seek out the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, water buffalo, and elephant) in the Maasai Mara, marvel as thousands of widlebeast stampede through the Grumeti River during their annual migration, get up close and personal with lemurs on Madagascar. These are only a few of the safari options you can explore with Another Land.
The Village ProgramsAnother Land, in conjunction with several villages and artisans in Uganda, Kenya, Madagascar and Tanzania, provides the highest quality cultural programs available in East Africa. All programs are authentic and participatory. The programs not only benefit the traveler by giving them an amazing cultural experience so few have access to, but also benefit the communities economically, socially and emotionally.
How do villages benefit?A SIGNIFICANT portion of proceeds from each traveler's trip goes towards the development of the villages they visit. The financial reward to the families and villages that participate in Another Land programs is great. For example, 10 people for 4 days in a village is enough for the village to dig a well with a pump. Your visit does great things.
Typical Day
On Safari
Spend the full day searching out game in the Park. Additionally, you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy an optional sunrise game drive, when the cats are most likely to hunt, and an optional hot air balloon ride to see the astonishing views of the terrain and herds. Packed lunch. Overnight at your Hotel / Lodge / Camp. All meals included.

In the Village
Today will learn about village culture from the villagers themselves. The women will teach you how to make their beaded, goatskin outfits. You’ll join the medicine man to collect various roots, leaves and fruit that are used to treat the villagers and their livestock as well as ward off curses and evil spirits. You may even discuss a particular personal ailment with the medicine man. You’ll also meet the rainmakers and learn about their lives and the tradition of making rain. (This is very secretive and the rainmakers must feel quite comfortable with the group before discussing or showing anything in depth). Overnight in the camp. All meals included.
