We are the gateway to the Thelon Wildlife Sanctuary and Queen Maud Gulf Sanctuary: the most remote and largest wildife refuges in Canada. Join veteran bush pilot & wildlife guide 'Tundra Tom' and his qualified naturalist interpreteurs for a choice of one or two week expeditions to the most remote regions on the Arctic & sub-Arctic mainland. Wildlife programs for tundra wolves, the great caribou migration, musk-oxen herds, northern lights, birding, autumn colors and incredible Arctic landscapes. We also offer canoe & kayak expeditions on the Thelon River and Back river systems.
Typical Day
Following a 150 airmile floatpane flight from the remote aboriginal settlements of either Baker Lake Nunavut or Stoney Rapids, Saskatachewan, we will accommodate you at a comfortable and catered tent camp on the remote Arctic tundra. Packages includes all meals, boats, motors, & quonset hut tent accommodations. Qualified interpretive trip leaders offer a choice of daily programs in wildlife, archaeology, native & early explorer history, trekking.

Age range, type of group
We accommodate all ages in moderate physical condition. Participants should be able to comfortably walk 2-5 miles per day and a relaxed pace over easy ground while carrying their own day-pack and photography gear.
Sleeping and meals
Accommodations at the widlife camps are either in qulaity ground tents, od sometimes in quonset hut style insulated & heated vinyl buildings with rugs, beds and mattresses. Gormet-style cuisine is prepared and served daily.
Restrictions
Pets are not allowed as they can interfere with local wildlife.
Rates
2009 rates range from $4,595.00 USD to $5,750.00 USD on the main one-week package trips. Single and Double rates are available on most trips.
Other Information
You must bring your own sleeping bag (bedroll), pillow, and personal items including towels. Detailed 'things to bring' lists are provided upon reservation.
