Activity/Tour
Join Global Gypsies on our personally escorted, nature-based Safaris to Australia, Africa and more!
Have you dreamed of exploring Australia, Africa or other remote & exotic destinations? Of experiencing the timeless, remote beauty of the "outback" or admiring the wildlife of Africa? Now you can achieve your dream accompanied by people you know and trust - independent, but not alone.
On some safaris, you can drive your own - or a hired - 4WD vehicle, and travel in the safety of a small convoy led by an expert guide. 4WD tuition is part of the package and no previous off-road experience is needed. Choose from self-catering or participatory catering safaris.
On other adventures, you'll travel as a passenger in comfy safari vehicles.

Jeremy Perks, Director of Global Gypsies and 2004 Tour Guide of the Year, leads most of the safaris. Jeremy is a professional Tour Guide, Honorary CALM Ranger, experienced four-wheel driver and a qualified motor mechanic (petrol & diesel). He is extremely knowledgeable about the local flora, fauna and history and is trained in remote area first-aid.
Some tours are led by other highly experienced guides who are employees or business colleagues of Global Gypsies. We only work with the best tour operators, and our clients are sure to have the best holiday experience possible - no matter which destination they choose..
Typical Day
There is no typical day on our adventures - each one is new and different. The only consistency is that clients are well looked after by professsional staff and enjoy top quality service, great catering and memorable experiences. Activities can include four-wheel-driving, wildlife viewing, bushwalking, river trips, visits to interesting local attractions, cultural performances and more.

We also provide 4WD tuition on our 'tag-along-tours', and tuition in towing, reversing, parking and other skills on our Caravan Confidence Convoys.
Age range, type of group
Ages range from 8 to 80, but on a typical safari most people will be 35+, keen to learn about new places and meet new people.
Our tours attract singles, couples, friends, families with older children, and retired folks. Most Global Gypsies clients have a sense of adventure, a positive attitude and a big curiosity and are looking for a holiday with a difference. They enjoy the professionalism and friendly atmosphere of our tours and can feel secure knowing that they are "independent but not alone".
Our self-drive 'tagalong tours' are a mixture of private and hired 4WD vehicles. For these, clients should be reasonably fit and healthy and hold a current driver's licence. No previous off-road experience is necessary.

Sleeping and meals
Accommodation
Most tours are primarily camping, when we sleep in tents under the stars. We stay in a combination of caravan parks, campgrounds and "bush camps". On tagalong tours, clients hiring bushcamper style 4WD vehicles can sleep inside them if they wish - they are a very comfortable home on wheels. We can also hire camping gear at very competitive rates.
Some of our tours also include a few nights accommodation in 3 or 4 star hotels. Please refer to the individual tour for this information.
Catering
We provide optional catering on most of our 4WD 'tagalong' tours in Australia, and full catering on our overseas expeditions. We also provide staff to purchase and prepare the food and do most of the kitchen duties. Please review the individual tour for this information.
On self-catering tagalong tours you do your own thing - buy the groceries, cook the meals and clean your dishes. The choice is yours.
Restrictions
No pets. No trailers. No caravans. Young children & babies discouraged on extended safaris but fine for short trips.
Rates
Safaris costs start from $100 per person day. Please review the individual tour for exact prices.
