Timaru, gateway to the lakes and mountains of the South island, is an attractive, safe coastal city situated on rolling hill country at the southern end of the Canterbury Plains. It has excellent sporting, cultural and recreational facilities and lies within two hours of Christchurch city and international airport.

There are daily bus and train services to Christchurch and Dunedin. Timaru airport has direct flights to Christchurch and Wellington, with connections to Auckland, all other New Zealand airports and internationally.

General Description:
Every year, students of all ages (16-75 years), and from many countries and professions, attend Eurolingua's numerous language, cultural, special interest and summer programmes worldwide. Students include private individuals, mature teenagers, university and MBA students, teachers, doctors, professional and business people, corporate executives, diplomats and embassy staff, government employees, military personnel and retired people.


One-to-One Homestays (16-75 years):
Live and study abroad for 1 to 4 weeks, on a full-board basis, in the private family residence of a Eurolingua tutor. You benefit from intensive one-to-one, professional language tuition, enjoy local excursions and share usual family social, cultural and leisure activities. Total immersion in the language, culture and way of life is guaranteed. We collect you at and return you to the nearest airport or railway station. Programmes are available all year.

Group Programmes (16-75 years):
You benefit from a minimum of 15 hours (20 lessons) per week tuition in small friendly groups at one of our Institutes, with cultural visits and leisure activities. In order to maintain linguistic and cultural continuity, accommodation is with a selected, local host family. Studio apartments are also available. Open all year, with and special programmes during the summer.

Typical Day

Small classes and high quality teaching. The Institute is centrally located and is close to shops, caf鳬 restaurants, banks, bakeries, bars, post office, library, cinemas, theatres and sporting and recreational facilities. We use modern methods and materials and have comfortable classrooms. There is a student lounge with pool table, an equipped kitchen and coffee and tea making facilities. We offer recreational and social activities, provide a free counselling service for students, arrange weekend activities and assist with travel arrangements.
Tuition

All teaching staff are highly-qualified professionals, supported by experienced administrators. They provide a friendly and stimulating learning environment and achieve outstanding results. Textbooks and learning resources are carefully selected to ensure that students find their studies stimulating and enjoyable.

The Programmes
We offer General English, Examination Courses (TOEFL, IELTS etc), Business English, High School Preparation, One-to-One Tuition, English with Golf or Skiing and Combined English and 'Discover New Zealand' Travel Programmes.

Sleeping and meals

In order to maintain linguistic and cultural continuity, students are placed with one of our local, carefully selected host families on a full-board (all meals) basis. They have their own room with a desk and all laundry is taken care of. Host families provide an excellent opportunity for students to practice their English with a New Zealand family. Other accommodation options are available, including bed and breakfast, motels, hotels or a private apartment.

Other Information

You will be living in Timaru, a city ideally situated to visit some of the most beautiful places in New Zealand. Snow covered mountains, with plenty of opportunity for skiing or snowboarding, crystal clear lakes and rivers, bush walks, rafting, jet-boating or just relaxing. Timaru has two public swimming pools, three golf courses, tennis courts, rugby, soccer, hockey, basketball, badminton, table tennis, netball, yachting, softball, rifle-shooting, and ten-pin bowling.
