Surrounding Area

The front range of the Rocky Mountains in northern Wyoming is the majestic Bighorn Mountain range, who's snowy peaks rise to 13,000 feet elevation. The Bighorn National Forest and the Cloud Peak Wilderness cover most of the mountain area. To most tourists the Bighorns are an unexpected obstruction while traveling from the Black Hills to Yellowstone, but for those rare individuals who want to miss the condos, crowds, and curio shops, the Bighorns are the off-the-beaten-path mountain experience they never expected. Solitary back roads and hiking trails lead to deer, elk, moose, bears, eagles and mountain lions. Nearby towns in the valley have rodeos, powwows, art museums, Indian wars history, polo matches, and a western lifestyle that's they thought was gone forever.

Accommodations

Towering log lodge and cabins on a quiet pine-forested mountainside with a one-hundred mile view. Wildlife and walking trails abound on the 40 acre site and the adjacent one million acres of Bighorn National Forest.

Rooms/Suites

The three delightful private bath guest rooms in the main lodge and two secluded guest cabins are solar-powered and owner-built.

Services Offered

Wednesdays and Saturdays are days we hold available for all-day trips with our guests. While our main purpose as your hosts is to facilitate exploration on your own, there are some places that are just too remote or hard to find, and besides, some folks prefer to have a "native guide". So while we'll be telling you all we can about where to explore on you own, there are some days when we load up the Suburban and put together a party to reduce costs and have some fun.
