Jacob Rohrbach Inn - At the Antietam Battlefield

Built around 1800, by Capt. Joseph Chapline, Revolutionary War patriot, the Inn is a perfect example of Federal Period architecture. Located in the heart of Sharpsburg, Maryland it is surrounded by the Antietam Battlefield, and was used as a hospital to care for the wounded following the battle. The Inn is named for Jacob Rohrbach who lost his life defending the property against horse thieves claiming to be Mosby�s men on July 4, 1864. Four guest rooms offer a glimpse of early American life, and a comfortable base for exploring Antietam, South Mountain, Harpers Ferry, and the C&O Canal historic areas. Bicycle rental is available for guest wishing to ride the Battlefield or explore the
C&O Canal bike path to Harpers Ferry. Battlefield guides are also available.
