Active Adventure
La Alpujarra, between the snow-capped peaks of Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean Sea is one of the most varied, enchanting and beautiful regions in the world.
Our walking holidays offer you wonderful high-altitude hiking amid some of the most splendid scenery imaginable, excellent accommodation in 3 & 4 star hotels, good food and friendly companionship - plus an action-packed day in the magical city of Granada.
Walking in the mountains of Andalucia involves quite a bit of going up and a bit of going down! So you need to be reasonably fit and active, but you don't need to be a mountaineer or a fitness fanatic either. Healthy limbs and minds and a sense of adventure and fun are all that are required.

Typical Day
We stay in an excellent quality hotel high in the mountains, and you will wake to a leisurely breakfast there. We start walking (accompanied by our splendid guide, Irishman Conor Clifford) at around 10.30 am, returning at approx. 5pm. That includes a break for a splendid picnic lunch and a few stops here and there to enjoy the stunning views. We cover some 10 - 15 kilometres each day. In the evenings it's dinner at the hotel or elsewhere (according to the programme, we like to keep it varied and interesting). Four days are designated to walking in the mountains (each walk is quite different but equally invigorating and enthralling), there is a rest day when you can do whatever you wish and a wonderful day (and night) discovering the delights of the magnificent city of Granada too.

Age range, type of group
Mostly couples, some singles, some groups of friends; adults, of almost any age, young and some not quite so young. The most important requirements are that you enjoy challenging walks amid magnificent scenery, enjoy meeting other people and have a sense of fun and bon homie.
Sleeping and meals
We stay for six nights in the 3-star Villa Turistica de Bubion and for one night at the 4-star Hotel San Anton in the centre of Granada, both of which provide quality accommodation, breakfasts and dinners. And we do our best to keep it interesting and varied, with a splendid party night on one evening and dinner at a top class local restaurant on another - plus the odd glass of wine or two - thrown in.
