Atlantic Oakes is in Bar Harbor, ME located on beautiful Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. Acadia offers a wide variety of outdoor activites. There are over 60 miles of carriage trails for biking and hiking, both freshwater and ocean swimming, as well as canoeing and kayaking. From Bar Harbor you can go whalewatching, rent bikes, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, powerboats, or enjoy one of the many cruises on the ocean. You can even go lobster fishing and cook right on the boat.

Accommodations

Formerly the estate of Sir harry Oakes, Atlantic Oakes is an oceanfront resort comprised of the orignal mansion and seven attractive buildings spaced twelve wooded and landscaped acres on teh shores of Frenchman's Bay. This spacious resort features 150 oceanview rooms with patios or balconies, plus extensive meeting, conference, and wedding facilties on the premises.

Rooms/Suites

All of our rooms are air-conditioned and most are non-smoking. All have full baths, direct dial phones and cable TV. Most rooms have 2 double beds, some have 1 king bed. Kitchenettes are available. The original mansion we run as a bed and breakfast. All rooms in mansion are non-smoking, and have either a king or queen bed. All have private bath.
B & B not recommended for children under 15 years of age. We also have 2 apartments that we rent weekly from Sat. to Sat. Each have full kitchen, 2 baths, own laundry, and are non-smoking.

Amenities

We serve a full buffet breakfast from early may to Oct 31. Other months we serve a complimentary continental breakfast. On site are 2 heated swimming pools, 1 in & 1 out; an indoor hot tub; 4 tennis (lessons available); pier and float. We have a full service confernce center able to provide all that is needed for 10 people to 400 people.

Directions

From I-95 take exit 45A to Route 1A. In Ellsworth, ME take Route 3 to Bar Harbor. Atlantic Oakes is on the water side (left side)of Route 3 just as you come into town, next to the ferry to Nova Scotia.
