A small, friendly school situated in the heart of the old city of Vienna and within easy walking distance of all the major sights such as St Stephen's Cathedral, the Opera and the Imperial Palace. Member of Campus Austria, an association of Austrian language schools which regognised by the Federal Mi,istry of Education.

In the centre of Vienna, you can stroll through pedestrian areas, have coffee in one of the many famous Viennese cafés or try some of the world-renowned pastry. You can look in the many bookshops, antiquity shops and record shops, enjoying the Viennese atmosphere.

Our classrooms have modern audio-visual equipment and hot and cold drinks are available in the cafeteria.

General Description:

Every year, students of all ages (16-75 years), and from many countries and professions, attend Eurolingua's numerous language, cultural, special interest and summer programmes worldwide. Students include private individuals, mature teenagers, university and MBA students, teachers, doctors, professional and business people, corporate executives, diplomats and embassy staff, government employees, military personnel and retired people.

One-to-One Homestays (16-75 years):
Live and study abroad for 1 to 4 weeks, on a full-board basis, in the private family residence of a Eurolingua tutor. You benefit from intensive one-to-one, professional language tuition, enjoy local excursions and share usual family social, cultural and leisure activities. Total immersion in the language, culture and way of life is guaranteed. We collect you at and return you to the nearest airport or railway station. Programmes are available all year.

Group Programmes (16-75 years):
You benefit from a minimum of 15 hours (20 lessons) per week tuition in small friendly groups at one of our Institutes, with cultural visits and leisure activities. In order to maintain linguistic and cultural continuity, accommodation is with a selected, local host family. Studio apartments are also available. Open all year, with and special programmes during the summer.

The Eurolingua Institute teaches 9 languages in 29 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA and Venezuela.

Typical Day

In addition to our German programme, we offer various spare time activities, designed both to establish contact between our students and Austrians and to give an insight into Austrian culture and history. We organise guided city tours to some of Vienna's less well known sights where the background of historical events and the spirit of the past epochs becomes clear.

Today's life is demonstrated during factory visits and environmental walks. Depending on the season, we organise hiking tours, bicycle tours and boat trips, where the students see the surrounding province of Vienna and where they may practise their German in a relaxed atmosphere.

Vienna is, of course, a city of music offering something for everyone: ballet, opera, jazz; classical and church music.
Our danse parties or barbecues are very popular among the students. All these activities are optional but students who participate benefit significantly.

Sleeping and meals

In order to maintain linguistic and cultural continuity, accommodation is arranged with a local, Austrian host family. Independent studios are also available.

Other Information

Our team of qualified, experienced Austrian teachers use a well_balanced method which activates students communication skills in a very short time. The lessons are held only in German with the aim of helping students understand and participate as quickly as possible in the language being spoken around them.
Lessons are interactive with rôle-plays, dialogues, pair-work, group-work and discussions, all helping to expand vocabulary and master German structures. Grammar is only taught as a basis for communication. Students take regular tests and undertake assignments in order to re-inforce their work and acquisition of German. Pronunciation exercises, specially designed for students of the same mother-tongue, complete the programme.

Students learn German in a professional but relaxed atmosphere with the constant help, attention and support of the teachers. Austrian culture, past and present, is also an integral and extremely interesting part of the programme, enabling students to acquire cultural knowledge as well as the German language.
