Active Adventure
Go as you please.
The area offers a whole variety of walks - some tough terrain over the fells and across 'the tops', gentler territory by rivers, streams and beck. For most walks, no special skills are required.
Proprietors Syd & Heather Carter keep large scale maps of the area and can advise you and help you to plan your route.
Typical Day
Is up to you. Breakfast at 8.30 am: fresh and dried fruits, cereals, full English or alternatives if you prefer, home-made rolls, honey, marmalade....then head for the hills or head for the lounge to make a more leisurely start to the day.
If you're not in the mood for walking there are many. many places to explore by car: ancient castles at Middleham, Richmond and Castle Bolton, old abbeys, historic houses... You can see traditional rope-making and cheesemaking in Hawes, pottery, painting, glass-blowing, jewellery-making amongst other crafts around the Dales, learn the skills and traditions of the dales farmer at the Dales Countryside Museum, explore caves and landmarks....you will never be short of things to do.

We are unable to accommodate children. Pets are welcome.
Sleeping and meals
Scarr House has just three double/twin guest bedrooms each with en suite shower and toilet.

Meals are taken in the guest dining room (individual tables for couples) and good food is our speciality: home-cooked fresh produce imaginatively cooked and served, taking its influences from all over the world but including a high proportion of local produce.

Pets are welcome as long as they have well behaved owners who remember to wipe their feet and keep them off the furniture and out of the kitchen.
